We would like to welcome Cynthia Johnson as the new Treasurer for Furry Friends. As Treasurer she will also be a part of the Executive Committee. She replaces Helen McCann who is newly retired and wishes to pursue some other interests at this time.
Here is what Cynthia has to say about herself:
“I began volunteering with Furry Friends in June 2020 becoming the Thursday morning Halfway House team lead, added socializing and fostering along the way (although I failed at fostering adopting two adorable ginger girls in my care). Having recently retired from a lengthy career in accounting, I wanted to do something more meaningful with the next phase of my life. Caring for cats and encouraging young woman has always been my heart’s passion. I researched a few cat rescues in the area and liked the environment and services Furry Friends provided and jumped in with both paws.
I had a 35 plus year career in accounting, putting myself through college working as a bookkeeper, then 8 years in public ccounting as an audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. I transitioned to corporate America working as a controller and eventually CFO shifting from various industries of high-tech, internet domain name registrations, an education company, and finally with medical device companies.
When not volunteering with Furry Friends and Soroptimist, I enjoy healthy cooking, golf, hiking, traveling and personal development.
I have an amazing husband, Craig, who so kindly supports my love for cats and encourages me to grow personally. My little fur faces have always been my babies. From the time I was a small child, I have always had kitties loving everything about them from their ears, whiskers, tails, purrs, and even their cat attitude. I now have three babies, a 20 pounder Maine Coon mix named Wolfie, and two cute as a bug ginger girls named Tink and Tilly.”
