“When we adopted Cherry, we changed her name to Carmina,” Emily explains. “We are a cat family and always have two or three or four cats at one time. Carmina was adopted to be a friend for our other young cat, Neptune, and they are besties! They chase each other from one end of the house to the other every night.

“When we looked on the Furry Friends website, we thought Carmina was the prettiest cat there, and when we visited, she charmed us right away with her sweet personality. We took her home and she immediately hid under the couch for two weeks. And because we could only pet her by lying on the floor and reaching underneath the couch, we all spent a lot of time on the floor!

“Eventually, though, she began exploring the house and chatting away about everything she saw. Soon afterward, she started to ‘demand’ pets by standing on the cat tree and meowing loudly. And while she still doesn’t like being picked up or sitting on our laps, she does love pets and even belly rubs as long as we go to her.

“She always wants to be near us, even if we can’t see her. In fact, she’ll sit under the couch and reach out to gently claw at our feet if we try to move! As gentle and shy as she is, she’s been slowly warming up to us. She even sat on my lap the other day for the first time. We have hopes that someday she’ll be a true snuggle bug.”
