Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail: Cassie and the Crandalls

Unfortunately, for ten years, my husband, Walter, and I couldn’t have any because Buster, our terrific Rottweiler, couldn’t tolerate them. When our Buster died last October, we were devastated and depressed by his loss. But it was always understood that when he was gone, we would adopt a cat – or two.

“One evening in November, I happened to see a posting on the Furry Friends site which included a photo and short video clip of Cassie. I’m not kidding you — I fell in love with her instantly! I showed the post to my husband and he too was smitten.

“There was just one tiny glitch, however. We couldn’t adopt her immediately because we had two trips planned, and I didn’t feel it was right to adopt her, then leave her. So I asked if we could wait until January, knowing I risked her going home with someone else in the meantime.

“Well, thankfully, she was still at Furry Friends when we returned, and so on January 8th, I brought her home. She’s a fantastic kitty! We decided that her name was great, so she is and always will be Cassie to us. Having had many cats before, I predicted that as soon as we brought her home, she would disappear for a couple of days. And she did disappear. For all of a half-hour — before snuggling with me while I took a nap!

She’s very people oriented, doesn’t really play with a lot of toys, is a wonderful combination of laid back and feisty, and sleeps on our bed every night.

“Another interesting note: we share the same birth date: November 1.

“Thank you, Furry Friends, for entrusting Cassie to us!”
