“I originally had three cats, Crusty, Explorer and Screamer,” says Kiondra. “When Screamer passed, Explorer got really depressed because she no longer had her buddy and she started terrorizing Crusty, who prefers to be left alone. I wasn’t sure I wanted to get another cat but it became clear that both of mine would be happier with another one in our home.
“While Suzie Q was her original name, after getting to know her, I named her Olive. I have a soft spot for kitties with mustaches, and when I saw her cute little mustache I knew she was the one.
“Her adjustment to us was immediate. She slept a lot, never left my side, and wanted a lot of attention. Having Olive here has been a crazy and rewarding experience. She developed an eye problem the morning after I brought her home, which resulted in her needing to have her eye removed a few weeks later. Furry Friends was amazing throughout the whole process and helped me with everything.
“Following the surgery, she was a different cat! She started playing with Explorer and with squeaky mouse toys, racing through the house, chasing after the laser pointer, unraveling entire rolls of toilet paper, and watching the birds outside the window. Now she and Explorer are the closest of kitty companions.
“She’s very affectionate, and when she wants pets she lets you know. She loves biting fluffy blankets when she’s kneading them and making them comfy. She also likes to slide off things instead of jumping down.
“She loves the kitty beds in the window so that she can see the outside world, but when I go to bed she always comes up and sleeps right next to me.”
