A longtime feline fancier, Bill translated his love of cats into helping cats by volunteering for Furry Friends beginning in 2021.
Having adopted from us in 2004, he and his wife were well acquainted with the patience and time it takes to make any adopted kitty feel happily at home in a loving forever home. Earlier this year, they adopted Brooklyn and Charlotte, both part of a hoarder rescue, from us.
Formally retired, Bill devotes between two and four hours a week at the shelter as an all-important cat socializer. He readily admits that his favorite part of being a socializer is interacting with the cats and helping them adjust to a new and better life. And that his proudest moment as a volunteer is the satisfaction he derives out of watching these cats not only become more adoptable but seeing them actually being adopted!
Prior to his retirement, Bill was a Controller for three Coca-Cola manufacturing facilities: one in Portland and two in California. Besides being highly skilled at application software (MS Excel and Access), he enjoys playing golf and bowling, and as an avid football, baseball and hockey fan, he always supports the teams from his native Chicago. He considers maintaining his sanity during these crazy times to be his biggest challenge.
