One of our many dedicated volunteers is Freya Fisher. She has been volunteering with Furry Friends for the last year and a half. She began volunteering right after she moved to Vancouver, even before she found a house to live in! She came from Fairfax, Virginia where she volunteered at multiple animal shelters.

At Furry Friends Freya is on one of the cleaning/caretaking shifts where she takes care of the cats in the medical room. This involves cleaning the kennels, giving the cats fresh food & water, and socializing with the cats.

When asked how she got involved she said, “I had volunteered at the animal shelter and Humane Society in Fairfax, Virginia, and knew I wanted to get involved here as soon as possible. I googled cat rescue groups in Clark County and found Furry Friends that way.” Freya wants the community to know that getting involved however you can, helps so much.

Recently Freya’s precious 17 year old orange tabby crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The kitty came with her from Virginia and she has had the kitty since she was only eight weeks old. After this loss Freya wanted to help some harder to adopt cats so she adopted two older fearful girls from Furry Friends, Sammy & Scarlett.

Besides taking care of cats she also likes to hike, visit museums, and tutor ESL students at Clark College.

Thank you Freya for your dedication to Furry Friends!
