“I’ve had cats my whole life,” Alexis says, “and as soon as I got my first solo apartment I knew I wanted to adopt a cat. Although she was called Dove when I adopted her, I changed her name to Boo and it suits her personality purr-fectly. I chose her because she needed to be an only pet in a quiet home and I knew I could provide that environment for her.
“She settled in much faster than I expected and I quickly learned about her confident and spunky personality. She’s continued to feel more comfortable with me over time, showing me how goofy she can be while slowly becoming more of a loving lap cat. Adopting a 5-year-old cat has definitely had its challenges because she’s set in many of her ways, but she’s already grown so much.
“Her favorite toys are a fluffy white llama and a lamb (I think she loves them because they look just like her). She also loves to chase feather toys and the laser’s red dot. I try to challenge her by teaching her tricks and by giving her puzzle toys.
“She follows me everywhere around the apartment and loves to talk to me. She also loves to go outside in the courtyard of our apartment to bask in the sun and watch the birds. She always gets playful at night, doing crazy circles on my bed, and since she loves hiding under pillows and blankets to take naps, I build little forts for her.
“One of her most endearing traits is the way she meows and runs up to me, purring, every time I come home. It’s the best greeting ever! She’s definitely my ‘fur-ever kitty’ and I’m very thankful that I was able to adopt her from Furry Friends.”
