“We adopted our first cat, Walter, from Furry Friends in 2017,” Melissa explains. “And when we adopted Mr. Kitty, we kept his name because it just seemed to fit him. We call him MK for short.

“Although we had to wait a few weeks before bringing him home (he underwent surgery on one of his eyes and needed to recuperate), it was worth the wait. And because our current cat, Walter, is extremely shy, we felt he needed a more extraverted cat to help bring him out of his shell.

“While Mr. Kitty settled in comfortably from the start, it took nearly two weeks for Walter to fully warm up to him. Now they’re best friends. Not only do they play together, but they also cuddle together. On the other hand … or paw … MK ‘tolerates’ our Shih tzu.

“MK is so outgoing and so friendly and he LOVES being with people. He’s a ray of sunshine. He never seems to be in a bad mood. He’s so cheerful that you can’t help but smile when you hang out with him. He enjoys being petted and cuddled so much that he’ll sit on my lap for hours, then cuddle with me at night when I’m trying to go to sleep.

“He also has a lot of energy. He loves chasing after the laser’s beam and playing with his ribbon toy. In fact, he loves playing so much that he wakes me up in the morning and expects me to play with him immediately.

“As for sleeping – when he does sleep — he either sleeps in bed with me or on the couch downstairs.”
