“Originally named Doe and Buck, these two are my first kitties, and they’re now called Mazzy (the sister) and Momo, (the brother). I was looking to adopt last year once I moved into my own apartment since I’ve always wanted kitties. I knew I wanted a bonded pair so they would always have company. When I was looking online, I saw them on the Furry Friends website and felt I needed to apply for them.

“I applied and came to the Halfway House to meet them. I was really impressed with how cozy and comforting the shelter was. I went in and sat with them awhile. They were shy but curious, and I had a feeling they were the ones for me. They were so sweet with each other and I loved the idea of adopting a brother and sister together.

“Once I brought them home, they were shy at first and snuggled up in a corner together. I let them explore on their own and was pleasantly surprised when Mazzy emerged a few hours later and came say hi! For his part, Momo hid a bit more in the first week, but he soon gained confidence, became comfortable, and is now the more social of the two. Mazzy is noticeably bonded with me since she doesn’t tend to go up to new people, but she loves following me around, sitting on top of me on the couch, and cuddling with me before I go to sleep. Momo on the other hand LOVES new people: he especially loves it when my dad visits. He goes right up to people and sits next to them on the couch wanting pets.

“They’re not very vocal, but I sometimes hear chirping from Mazzy when she looks out the window and squeaks from Momo when it’s wet food time. Everyone who’s visited my apartment and met them has told me they’re the sweetest cats – they never bite or scratch or swat at anyone. Even my friends who aren’t sure about cats and prefer dogs love them both. They’re exactly what I was hoping for in my first animal companions – quirky and so cuddly and loving.”
