“Olive is not our first kitty,” says Tani. “However, she is the first little one we have adopted from Furry Friends. We decided to keep her name because she would come to us when we called her by that name.

“I liked the way Olive looked on their website, and my heart went out to her because she had been at the shelter for four months. She was 8 1/2 when we adopted her, and being a senior couple, we thought a senior kitty and a senior couple was a purr-fect match.

“Olive took some time to adjust to our home. Although she didn’t respond to catnip and liked scratching the furniture, I’m pleased to report that everything is fine now. I bought her a very large scratching post and several feather toys, and she no longer scratches the furniture.

“We love Olive. She’s such a sweet little girl. She likes to sleep on the end of our bed and waits patiently for her breakfast without making a sound. She’s our only pet at this time, and I think she prefers it that way. Sometimes she plays with her feather toys and fidget spinner and chases the laser light.

“Unfortunately, Olive doesn’t cuddle. She occasionally sits next to us, but she never cuddles on our laps. She’s definitely an independent diva.

“She sleeps all over the house, depending on her mood. But she always ends up on our bed in the morning because she knows that I’m the one who feeds her!”
