Adara Grieco Volunteer Spotlight
“I have been volunteering with Furry Friends since November 2024,” Adara says.
“I am taking a gap year before I go to college and wanted to volunteer at a shelter. When I found Furry Friends, I thought that they would be a great place to do so. Before I started volunteering, I was attending high school, and after I graduated, I took a month-long trip across the country in a camper van, which was amazing! I am an aspiring artist and will be attending CWU in the fall for their arts program.
“I volunteer two hours a week at the shelter and I must admit that my favorite part is seeing shy cats come out of their shell. Like most volunteers, my biggest challenge is not adopting a bunch of them since they’re all so sweet! And while it’s sad to see the cats leave, I know that it means they will all have forever homes.
“The reasons I give back in this way are because I have always loved animals, I had been wanting to volunteer, and I wanted to help out at shelter since they take in so many animals needing care.
“I currently work at House of Sewing Machines and Vacuums where I fix vacuums and tend the front desk. As for the issues I feel passionately about: the environment, endangered animals, invasive species and habitat loss. I not only try to stay well informed but find out how I can help more.
“At home, I have a dog named Nessie and two cats named Lulu and Eli. Fun facts: I love wood working and welding.”
