Morgan Wolf Volunteer Spotlight

“I started volunteering in April of 2024, and I’ve loved being involved!” exclaims Morgan.

“I first heard of Furry Friends when I was looking to adopt a cat. I had just moved into my own apartment and my current cat seemed so lonely. Since he was alone in the apartment, I started looking at shelters for a friend and new member of my family. I found FF through an adoption website, where I saw so many adorable kitties. When I visited the Halfway House I fell in love with a black cat named Rascal (now Sirius).

“I loved the atmosphere and message of Furry Friends. Working with stray and abused cats, as well as our TNR program touched my heart. A few months after adopting Siri, I decided that I wanted to donate my time to an organization, and I couldn’t think of a better place than here.

“I volunteer on Saturday mornings at the Halfway House with a great team. We all work very efficiently at getting the cats fed and socialized as well as making sure their rooms are clean and tidy. We’ve gotten really good at it. I think my proudest moment there was completing everything within an hour. Everyone helped to ensure that everything got done, and I had a lot of fun!

“My favorite part of volunteering is hanging out with the cats. Each one has a different personality, and I feel proud that I’m helping them find homes through socializing them and helping them feel comfortable around people. I care for each cat so much and my biggest challenge is seeing some cats returned after being adopted. I want every cat we help to find his or her perfect home.

“I work at a high-end audio gear company. We have our own line of stereo amplifiers and phonostages. I’m responsible for stuffing every circuit board that goes into our units, and because my job is very technical, I appreciate the experience I’ve gained through volunteering for Furry Friends.
As for the issue Morgan’s most passionate about: “Helping pet owners spay and neuter their cats. Through volunteering, I’ve seen how inundated Furry Friends, the Humane Society and other rescues are with cats and kittens. It’s a real problem that jeopardizes the lives of countless cats. This is why the TNR program is so important to me. Every cat deserves a good life.

“At home, there’s my fluffy five-year-old Fennel who’s been with me for three years and knows how crazy life can get. He and I have moved four times in the last three years. He’s a playful puss who loves to explore outside on his harness. Then there’s Siri, named after Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. Not only has he been a light in my life, he’s the sweetest boy, and he and Fen keep each other entertained, often playing in the late hours of the night when I’m trying to sleep. They both mean so much to me, and with them, my little family feels complete.

“When I’m not working, I enjoy engaging in various kinds of crafts. I’ve done embroidery, knitting, diamond painting, stained glass, pressed flowers, and I’ve recently been teaching myself how to crochet. I love making my family and friends little gifts. I’ve also taken up gaming, thanks to my boyfriend who lives in Florida, so gaming has been a great way to spend some time together, even when we’re thousands of miles apart.

“Overall, I love volunteering. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Thank you all for having me, and I hope to help cats for many years to come!”
