Butch and the Combs Family: Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“We adopted Butch (formerly Andre), named after the WSU mascot, last summer,” Daschell explains.
“He joined one cat and three dogs when he came home with us. It took him only a few days to settle in and become part of the pack. Butch is almost the same color as our golden retrievers and is sometimes hard to find because they’re usually all sleeping together!
“Although he has food out all the time, he runs to breakfast and dinner with the dogs. Not to mention the fact that he never misses early morning treats from his dad with everyone else. He decided right away that a little basket we had on the coffee table was his.
“I realized how photogenic Butch was and how much he loved posing for pictures. I took the opportunity to photograph him with WSU gear (for his namesake) and he became the official tap room kitty for Taps Beer Reserve during the last football season. (You can check out some of his photos on their social media pages).
“Over the holidays, he ‘requested’ a food drive to give back to the wonderful organization that had taken such good care of him. At our annual Christmas party, our friends and family brought all sorts of donations which we passed onto Furry Friends. Of course, Butch needed to have his picture taken with all of the generous gifts we had collected since this will be our new holiday tradition.
“Since he had grown a lot, Santa brought him a new coffee table basket and WSU-colored blanket. He’s looking forward to the next football season and more photo opportunities. Butch has been a wonderful addition to our family. He’s very inquisitive, has a big personality, and likes to be in the middle of whatever the family is doing, thinking he’s the best ‘helper’ ever!
“If anyone is thinking about adopting, Furry Friends is a wonderful organization to work with!”
