Gnocchi and Mr. Meowgi and the Morgans : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“Our 18-year-old cat Stardust passed away the month before we adopted Gnochi and Mr. Meowgi,” explains Autumn.
“My husband Caleb and I changed Ziti’s name to Gnocchi because he’s a chunky potato dumpling, and Dewy to Mr. Meowgi because I’d said I wanted to name my next cat that. Just as with our Stardust, we wanted the cat(s) to pick us. These two loved our attention, and that’s also something we wanted. They adjusted to living with us fairly quickly. I had taken the following two days off to be with them, and so they seemed right at home -- especially when Gnocchi stole a whole chicken nugget from my husband!
“Not only have they filled the pain of losing Stardust, they fill us with love and laughter. They both enjoy playing with toys and occasionally they’ll chase after the laser light. Gnocchi, however, is obsessed with cardboard and those blue Walmart bags, while Mr. Meowgi likes to hop into bags and baskets.
“Mr. Meowgi wants to sit on me all the time. If I pick him up like a baby, he promptly falls asleep and snores. Gnocchi, on the other hand, likes to rub against us and get some pets, but he’s recently started to feel more comfortable about sitting on us for brief periods of time. And although they were both quite independent before, now they like either being near us or together somewhere.
“They each have the most endearing habits and silly quirks. They both chirp at the birds outside and smack the window. Mr. Meowgi loves my hair ties and gets them under the area rug by actually going all the way underneath it. Gnocchi ‘talks’ a great deal. He especially enjoys luring Mr. Meowgi into a room, then closing the door and ‘mocking’ him. Mr. Meowgi is so naive and always falls for it! But then Gnocchi makes up for it by hugging and licking him.
“At night, Mr. Meowgi usually sleeps right against the back of my knees or in between my husband and me. Gnocchi prefers to sleep at our feet until the morning. Then he plops onto my head and looks out the window!”
