Nomu and Ella Short: Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail

“Nomu, originally named Jameson, isn’t my first kitty,” Ella explains.

“When we got the litter to foster, I picked him up and this precious little mini-panther immediately fell asleep in my arms. Even his adjustment to our home was immediate. He ADORES being petted and cuddled and has the loudest purr. He loves lying on top of me and if there’s a blanket covering me, he’ll ‘nurse’ on it.

“Nomu is my ESA (emotional support animal) and comes to college with me. He also sits with or on anyone else who needs help – and some Nomu loving. Not only does he get along with our large dogs, he’s so used to them that he’ll pat at them as they walk by and lie on the couch next to them! And once he warmed up to our other cats, he started cuddling with them too.

“Although he doesn’t play with conventional cat toys or play conventional games, he searches and schemes against my mom to get her rubber hair ties and steals trash like all ‘odd ball’ kitties. Known for his cute little quirks, Nomu always sits on the side table by the door when I come home. He always rubs up against people: even the locksmith at my school when I needed my lock fixed. He growled and still rubbed against him.

“As for his sleeping arrangements? He sleeps anywhere he pleases. His go-to places at home are the back of the couch, the end of my bed, the dog bed, the cat house, and beside my mom. At college, it’s on top of me.”
