Lucky and Anna Russon: Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“We had an outdoor cat named Callie who passed away a few years ago,” Anna says. “Lucky, whose original name was Sully, is our first indoor kitty.
“Imagine this! My mom rescued a poor wet kitten from the middle of a busy road. We gave him to a friend who fosters with Furry Friends to care for, and when he was ready, we adopted him. Not only was he a very ‘lucky’ kitty to have been rescued, we’re very ‘lucky’ to have him in our lives.
Lucky's first day at home ft. me and my siblings (Heidi, Anna, Makenna, Apollo)
“Although he was shy on the first day, he got used to our house very quickly. My mom, my siblings and I are all so happy to have Lucky with us. He’s so sweet, so playful, so loved, and he makes my life better every day. My dad pretends that he doesn’t like him, but we sometimes catch him playing with him!
“We have a few fish in a large tank, and Lucky LOVES to watch them swim around. He sits in a chair and stares at them for hours. Sometimes he bats his paws on the tank as if he’s trying to catch them. We call this ‘watching his favorite show.’ He also loves string, balls and anything that resembles string or balls (phone charger cords, a little round groundhog toy for Groundhog Day, etc.). We joke that he plays soccer because he loves chasing his ball around so much. He’ll even play fetch with us, bringing his ball back for us to throw again, allowing him to chase it again! And when we’re busy, he’s cleverly figured out how to play catch on his own. He takes his ball to the top of the stairs, drops it down and then races down the stairs after it! He ‘re-discovers’ his tail 3 to 4 times a day, and never fails to be delighted by it. He also loves to climb up onto the windowsill and birdwatch.
“Lucky is so soft and so fluffy and he likes being petted. He also likes being brushed and always tries to chew on the brush when we’re done. He’s a little more selective with his cuddles: he has to initiate the cuddle. He’s not a lap cat, but he’ll definitely curl up next to your legs or on top of you if you’re lying down and snuggle -- as long as you don’t move. Passionate about chasing and playing with string, Lucky loves batting at it if you dangle it over his head. But when he gets it, he becomes very protective of it because it’s HIS string! He also likes to give play bites, which he follows up almost immediately with a lick, almost as an apology. And he sleeps in bed with me at night. Usually he curls up by my legs or else he’ll sleep on a chair or in the little bed I made him out of a box and a blanket.
“In short, we all love our ‘Lucky Ducky’ and are so glad that he’s part of our lives!”
