Lilac and Mia and John Fields: Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail

“My life partner and I love animals and volunteer at the thrift store for the Clark County Humane Society. I myself have washed dishes at Furry Friends.

“Thirty years ago, when Byron and I first got together, we had three cats and a dog. After the last pet passed away, we considered adopting some more, but since we would soon be retiring to another state, we waited until moving here.

“We adopted Lilac, a 4-1/2-pound kitten, in late spring. We had adopted another cat earlier but she didn’t like Lilac and bullied him at every opportunity. So we took her back, and Furry Friends was able to find her the perfect home. We were most fortunate to have the assistance of Tanika who had fostered Lilac -- along with many others. She told us about Mia, a kitten Lilac had loved to play with while in foster care. The minute Lilac saw Mia again, his eyes lit up and we knew that we had to adopt her for his playmate.

“Although they are both gray and white and look like brother and sister, they’re actually five weeks apart in age. They LOVE to play after breakfast, and we have to constantly remind them that there’s a 50mph speed limit in the living room! They give us so much joy that we are VERY glad they came into our lives.

“Lilac loves to play in his tunnel and chase his wire ring toys. Mia likes to play with her butterfly and ball toy. Lilac loves to look at himself in the mirror (he’s a bit of a ham, actually). They are wonderful companions and make our house a happy home.”
